Upon arrival, trek along a nature trail with your guide, listening to commentary about the native plant and animal life and their roles in the Dominican ecosystem. Stop for closer looks at interesting specimens of cactus, fern, bromeliad and orchid.
At the bottom of a cliff, you'll come upon Hoyo Azul, or the 'blue hole.'
This natural limestone sinkhole is filled with crystal-clear aquamarine water just inviting you for a refreshing swim. Descend the wooden staircase and slip into the pristine subterranean pool, spending about a half an hour swimming before hiking back to your starting point.
